• Patina: Controlled oxidation adds vibrant color.
• Traditional rokushō patina creates rich reds and browns on copper alloys.
• Modern patinas (like Ready Patina) simplify the process while protecting silver layers.
• Ammonia + salt can even produce striking blue tones.
• Selective Etching: Using mild acids like vinegar or muriatic acid removes small amounts of softer metal, creating subtle texture and contrast. A light polish afterward highlights the raised areas while the recessed ones hold darker tones.
• Surface Finishes:
• Matte finish reveals depth and grain with a softer, rugged feel.
• High polish gives a luminous, mirror-like surface with more subtle color.
